Ephraim from Kenya and Cheska, Le Jhen and Jelai from the Philippines share the beautiful story of Christmas.
The birth of a baby in the middle of the night in a small, overcrowded town during a forced census would hardly have been noticed.
Poor family, no powerful connections. Couldn’t even get a room for the night.
The world had more pressing things to worry about.
But God seems to have a peculiar affection for the poor, the powerless, the displaced. So much so that He decided to join their ranks.
Few realized that the baby in the stable had been foretold nearly a thousand years earlier. And in just a few decades, the news of His birth and all that followed had spread throughout the Mediterranean world. Contemporaries described those who told of it as having “turned the world upside down.”
Today, the news of that extraordinary night has reached every continent on Earth.
As children from Kenya and the Philippines recount the events that changed human history, let’s allow the old, familiar miracle to startle us into a fresh sense of wonder.
Wishing you joy and wonder this Christmas and throughout the new year.
