The most powerful cyclone to strike the Bay of Bengal in at least a decade slammed into Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, on May 20, 2020.

Early reports indicate that some OneChild Hope Centers have been affected, but there has been no loss of life among our kids reported at this time.
The United Nations estimates that 10 million people were affected by Cyclone Amphan, and half a million may have lost their homes. Widespread evacuations prior to the storm have helped save lives, but we know that many families living in poverty in the area have suffered the loss of what few possessions they had. This is an especially difficult time for people already facing a hunger crisis resulting from the COVID-19 lockdowns, many of whom may no longer have a home to shelter in.
Please lift up heartfelt prayers of hope for the children and their families during this new crisis!
We will post additional information here as it becomes available and when relief is provided. If we learn that a sponsored child has been injured, we will notify the sponsor directly.
We are accountable to the children we serve AND to our donors.
Our accountability to our donors is one of our highest priorities. Our goal is to use the funds entrusted to us as wise stewards. To do this requires continued monitoring of our fund distribution.
