We hear of children and families around the world living in oppressive poverty. I experienced it firsthand. Growing up in India, my younger sister and I lived with our parents in a sparse 12 x 6-foot rented room. Our small radio was our one comforting possession that connected us to a world of music and joy.
When my parents learned about OneChild, our lives did an about-face. OneChild covered the costs of my schoolbooks, school uniform and shoes. OneChild also provided nourishing meals and medical checkups. But most of all, they encouraged me in drawing closer to the heart of God. My OneChild school was a safe place and kept me from being on the streets. I honestly don’t know if I’d even be alive right now if OneChild hadn’t intervened in my life and the life of my family.
Child Champions around the world help more than 40,000 children living in dire need, just like me. The couple who sponsored me believed in me and helped foster my passion for honoring God through music. Today, I manage the careers of music artists, and I am extremely grateful that OneChild taught me to lead with integrity and hope.
