On Saturday, August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the southern part of Haiti flattening homes and businesses.
Nearly 2,000 people have died as of August 18, 2021, and thousands more have been displaced or injured. OneChild’s 23 church partners are all in the northern part of the country, and children and their families were not affected by this devastation. Tropical storm Grace also did not affect any sponsored children or their families. As always, Child Champions continue to implement program activities and are providing individualized support to the registered children and families as needed.
While this is good news, our hearts break for the precious children and their families who have been displaced by yet another destructive earthquake. Please pray that God would bring peace and comfort to shocked and grieving families and a safe haven and hope for those searching for shelter.
We are accountable to the children we serve AND to our donors.
Our accountability to our donors is one of our highest priorities. Our goal is to use the funds entrusted to us as wise stewards. To do this requires continued monitoring of our fund distribution.
