Honduras
2019

Come on a life-changing adventure with us!

Honduras is a beautiful country with friendly people just waiting to meet you! This Middle American country, which borders El Salvador and Nicaragua, is known for its rich natural resources, including: minerals, coffee, tropical fruit, and sugar cane.

Our Child Champions at churches in Honduras minister to children and provide crucial help, including healthcare, nutritious food, and the chance to hear about how much God loves them.

All this care, of course, would not be possible without sponsors who support each child in our program.

There are 36 Hope Centers in Honduras where Child Champions help more than 4,300 impoverished children. In August 2019 you will have the opportunity to experience Honduras and see the crucial work of OneChild firsthand!

Come with us on this journey and experience how God has been at work in the young children of this country.

FAQ’s:

What does the trip cost cover?
Includes: Roundtrip airfare from Rapid City to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, all in-country meals, accommodations, transportation, excursions, and gratuities. Excludes: Transportation to/from Rapid City, meals in-transit, souvenirs, elective entertainment, snacks.

Is there an age limit?
The minimum age to participate is 14. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; all applications are subject to approval. If a child between the ages of 14 and 18 is traveling alone, the parents or guardians must consent to International Travel of a Minor and have a ‘Traveler Guardian’ in place of the parents.

What are the passport requirements?
A valid passport is required for travel but is not required at the time of registration. All passports MUST be valid for 6 months after the mission trip dates (in this case, February 3, 2020).

Do I need any immunizations?
OneChild does not require any immunizations; however, it is always wise to have your tetanus shot up-to-date. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), “You should become familiar with what steps to take and who to contact in case of a medical emergency while you are traveling.” We recommend that, 6 to 8 weeks before your departure, you consult with your physician, local health department or the CDC website http://www.cdc.gov/travel/ for information required and recommended immunizations for the country where you will be traveling. Some vaccinations require a series of doses spaced weeks apart.

Why do I need a background check?
To ensure the safety of our children and determine eligibility to travel with OneChild, all travelers must complete a criminal background check. To process background checks, OneChild uses a third party company. After completing trip registration, you will need to submit your background check request at https://onechildmatters.quickleasepro.com/. You will be asked to pay $45 by credit card to submit your request. This $45 expense is nonrefundable. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is kept in a secure location.
