During your visit to the Dominican Republic, you will also have the opportunity to:
- Tour the OneChild country office and hear from our team as they explain what it takes to run the sponsorship program in their country.
- Come alongside local Child Champions at one of our Hope Centers and participate in VBS and games with the children.
- We will do light work to improve Hope Center facilities.
- Hear from graduates of the program as they share their testimony and the impact that sponsorship had on their life.
- Walk through the community and visit the homes of children to get a glimpse into their home life and background.
- We will get to relax at the end of week and travel to the beach.

FAQ’s
What does the trip cost cover?
Price includes: round-trip airfare from Rapid City, hotel accommodations, meals, excursions, transportation travel insurance, sponsor visits, and administration. Excludes: Immunizations, souvenirs, elective entertainment, snacks, and personal expenses. A portion of this cost will also be used to help cover supplies and materials for the Hope Center you will be visiting.
What are the passport requirements?
A valid passport is required for travel but is not required at the time of registration. All passports MUST be valid for 6 months after the mission trip dates.
Do I need any immunizations?
OneChild does not require any immunizations; however, it is always wise to have your tetanus shot up-to-date. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), “You should become familiar with what steps to take and who to contact in case of a medical emergency while you are traveling.” We recommend that, 6 to 8 weeks before your departure, you consult with your physician, local health department or the CDC website http://www.cdc.gov/travel/ for information required and recommended immunizations for the country where you will be traveling. Some vaccinations require a series of doses spaced weeks apart.
Do I have to get the COVID-19 vaccine to travel?
It is not required for travelers to have the COVID-19 vaccine to travel with OneChild. The health and safety of our teams is our highest priority however, and we are always monitoring all travel restrictions, government recommendations, and requirements for safe travel. Throughout the planning process, we will keep you updated with any changes that might impact your travel requirements.
Why do I need a background check?
To ensure the safety of our children and determine eligibility to travel with OneChild, all travelers must complete a criminal background check. To process background checks, OneChild uses a third party company. After completing trip registration, you will need to submit your background check request at https://onechild.quickleasepro.com/. You will be asked to pay $46 by credit card to submit your request. This $46 expense is nonrefundable. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is kept in a secure location. Background checks are not necessary for travelers under the age of 18 years old.
